In 2019, the Guangzhou Consumer Council, in conjunction with the Foshan Consumer Council, commissioned the Foshan Quality and Metrology Supervision and Testing Center to conduct a comparative test on 27 samples of artificial stone sanitary ware (including artificial stone countertops for bathroom vanities). The testing was conducted according to the standards JC/T 2116-2012 "Non-Ceramic Sanitary Ware", JC/T 908-2013 "Artificial Stone", and QB/T 2658-2017 "Washbasins for Sanitary Equipment". The main tests included stain resistance, resistance to physical damage, heat resistance, and texture.
Regarding stain resistance, quartz stone samples and samples with a gelcoat layer showed excellent stain resistance, while samples without a gelcoat layer showed poor stain resistance. Regarding resistance to physical damage, quartz stone samples had the highest hardness and good scratch resistance. In terms of texture, there was no significant difference in gloss between different parts of the samples, and the overall texture was excellent.
Based on the test results, it is recommended to pay attention to products made of quartz stone or solid surface materials with a gel coat when purchasing, and to check the uniformity of the product surface and after-sales service. When using, avoid placing high-temperature objects on the surface for a long time, cutting vegetables on the surface, and cleaning up contaminants in a timely manner.
