Judging by Thickness
Genuine quartz stone only comes in four thicknesses: 15mm, 18mm, 20mm, and 30mm. The thickness of quartz stone is directly proportional to its load-bearing capacity; the thicker the stone, the stronger its load-bearing capacity, and naturally, the higher the price.
When purchasing quartz stone, you can judge its authenticity by its thickness. Quartz stone that is 10mm-13mm thick should be disregarded; it's almost certainly fake.
Judging by Particle Size
The particles on quartz stone vary in size and come in various types, including single-color particle slabs, particle slabs with mirror-like patterns, two-color patterned slabs, multi-color patterned slabs, and cement-like slabs. While particle size can help in identification, it's not a direct definitive indicator.
You can judge authenticity by the distribution of the quartz particles. If the particles are evenly distributed, small, and clear, and the number of particles on the front and back is roughly the same, it's likely genuine quartz stone. If the particles are large and uneven, and the front and back are different, it's very likely a fake.
Judging by Hardness
When selecting quartz stone in a physical store, you can use a key or a small knife to scratch the surface. If the scratch is black, it's highly likely to be genuine. If the scratch is white, it's almost certainly a fake.
This is because genuine quartz stone is harder than a steel knife. Even a steel knife won't leave a white scratch.
Judging by Burning
Quartz stone is a heat-resistant material. When viewing samples, you can use a lighter to burn the quartz stone. If it leaves a yellowish mark that cannot be wiped off, it's a fake. Genuine quartz stone, after being burned, will generally leave no trace when wiped off.
